About Us

Why did we decide to open an urgent care?

Dr. Harper, Dr. Wray and licensed veterinary technician Mary Bregg experienced a scenario with increasing regularity over the last few years: people were calling the veterinary clinics they worked at with sick animals. These animals had symptoms ranging from torn toenails and ear infections to not eating, vomiting, or being hit by cars. All these pets needed urgent medical attention, but due to the high volume of exams and appointments scheduled in advance (annual wellness, surgeries, sick visits and others) there was no room in the schedule for worried owners and their pets in need. In some cases, there was no room for these animals in the schedule for weeks. You may recognize this scenario from the perspective of a worried pet owner, who feels helpless when you are told that the veterinarian cannot see you today. What might surprise you is that everyone working in a veterinary practice from the receptionist to the technicians to the doctor feels just as helpless and overwhelmed. The problem? We are limited by not enough help or hours in the day. We want to provide the best care for every client and their pets, but we can’t do it all without it taking a serious toll on our staff. This toll has led to many qualified veterinarians and veterinary technicians leaving the field. We hope this veterinary urgent care will be the first step in providing a solution, at least in the somewhat isolated North Country. There are no pre-scheduled appointments. When we are open, we will see sick patients that are unable to be seen by their regular veterinarian. Give us a call to see if we can help you obtain the care you need for your pet.
